Mayo.ie to visit 2012 Manchester Irish Festival

www.mayo.ie, is the home of things Mayo related including Ireland’s recently appointed An Taosieach(Irish Prime Minister) - Enda Kenny who recently launched the initiative.

The project is an online initiative by Mayo County Council aimed at the three million people worldwide who originate from Mayo, along with those who currently live there, work there, or just have a love for the County. They will be having a special stall on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th March at the Manchester Irish Festival Market in Albert Square in Manchester city centre.

The website was launched in Summer 2011 and is steadily emerging as a ‘Master Mayo’ website with Mayo people worldwide. A love of Mayo is the one thing that the global Mayo family share, and this new initiative gives them the chance to stay connected both locally and internationally.
Mayo.ie, are delighted to be involved with this year’s Manchester Irish Festival, which is one of the biggest celebrations of Irish Culture in Europe.

Project Manager of the Mayo.ie project, Martina Hughes outlined that “the links between Mayo and Manchester has always been strong, and we look forward to forging these links even further. Manchester-Mayo Tourism and Business group are staging a Mayo weekend to coincide with our visit and we are looking forward to meeting everyone at the festival.

The aim of the mayo.ie project is to provide a platform for Mayo communities to connect, share information and form linkages both within their own communities and with other Mayo communities worldwide and also to link all Mayo people, irrespective of their location in the world, back to their home here on the west coast of Ireland.”
