Marian comes home to Mayo to appear in Charity Gala Concert
Irish Singer and broadcaster Marian Waldron whose Irish roots stem from Ballyhaunis and Lahardane is coming home to Mayo to appear in the Mayo Manchester Tradfest Charity Gala in aid of the ‘We love Manchester Emergency Fund’. The special concert on Saturday 5 August at the Ballina Arts Centre in Mayo is raising money for the families of the22 victims who were killed and 250 people injured in the recent Terrorist attack in Manchester.
Marian has just launched her debut album ‘Being with You’ which she launched at this years Manchester Irish Festival. The promotional video for her debut single ‘Isle of Hope’ which was filmed in the Nephin Mountains of Lahardane (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlAYLteS1O8)
The Manchester born singer has been working in broadcasting for the last 25 years and it was only after a recent move to New York that she finally decided to take up a full time career in singing and move back to Manchester to launch her new album.
The special fund raising concert at the Ballina Arts Centre has been kindly sponsored by Rosgal Civil Engineers, Manchester. When asked about her appearance at the Concert Marian replied “I was delighted to have been invited to be part of this special charity gala. It will be great to meet up with fellow broadcaster Alan Keegan from MUTV, I worked with Alan on Manchester Irish Radio which was set up over 25 years ago.”

We have been overwhelmed by the level of support that has been given to us, we even had a letter of support from the President of Ireland, Michael D Higgins.”
The evening will be hosted by 'The Voice of Old Trafford' Mr Alan Keegan from Manchester United Football club who is flying in from United's USA Tour to host the evening.
Performers from Manchester include Joe Keegan from the TV Show The Voice, plus the award winning Fianna Phadraig Pipe Band and the Keegan Academy of Irish Dancing which is run by the new Lord of the Dance - James Keegan and his sister Louise. Performers from Mayo include Sean Nos Dancers Tommy Stenson and The Ganley Sisters, there is also a specially commissioned performance from Lavinia Gilmartin's award winning Heroes for Hospice group, plus singer songwriter Dennis McCalmount and a dancing display from the Jiving Juniors as seen on RTE TV.
The event is just one of the highlights of the annual 6 Day MMTradfest in Mayo which is now in its fifth year and has been described in the media as one of Ireland’s biggest Traditional Irish Music and Dance events. The festival is launched on Thursday 3 August at the Fr Peyton Centre in Attymass with a two hour live radio broadcast and VIP party by Midwest Radio and continues until Wednesday 9 August.
There are over 100 events featured over the six days and nights of the festival with ten main events in the six festival hubs in Attymass, Ballina, Bonniconlon, Castlebar, Foxford and Westport.
