Manchester Irish Festival feature on BBC for St Patrick’s Day

Reel Rhythms troupe of Irish Musicians and Dancers were up early on St Patrick’s Day to turn the BBC TV studios Green and Red.

The Mayo Manchester performers who all have Mayo roots were featured on the BBC Breakfast TV St Patrick’s Day feature which was broadcast all across the UK on Saturday 17 March from Manchester.

The performers featured in the show included: Katie Gibbons and Jasmine Hill from Reel Rhythm Dance troupe who were accompanied by the extremely talented Caira & Catherine McGoldrick (whose Uncle is the world famous musician- Mike McGoldrick) and Emily Shields.

Tony Hennigan from Mayo Manchester commented “We were delighted to receive a request from the BBC to ask us to feature some of our performers who were taking part in our Mayo Day promotion during the Manchester Irish Festival. It was great to see the Green and Red broadcast to the Nation on St Patrick’s Day even the presenters joined in the fun.”

The feature also featured Irish Country star Derek Ryan and a live link up to New York with Tourism Ireland CEO Niall Gibbons to talk about Ireland’s Global Greening campaign for St Patrick’s Day.

The Mayo.ie Mayo Day promotion in Manchester is promote the Counties world wide celebration which takes place on Saturday 5 May. Mayo Manchester are staging their own Mayo Manchester Tradfest in Manchester on the day. They have teamed up with Hotel Westport and Westport House to give away a 2 Night stay in the Hotel and a 2 Day Pass for Westport House.
