Manchester celebrates its 25th Irish Festival

This years 2020 Manchester Irish Festival will celebrate its 25th Anniversary this year and it runs from Saturday 7 March until Tuesday 17 March. The award winning 'Young, Gifted and Green' celebrate their own 25th anniversary by staging its farewell concert on Saturday 7 March at St Bede's College. The Irish Music, Song and Dance show which has raised over £210,000 for different charities over the years is this year raising money for The Christie Cancer Care Hospital. Other opening weekend highlights include a set dancing weekend at St Kent's and a 'Sean Nos' and 'Jiving' workshop by The Ganley Sisters who have been featured on RTE TV's Late Late Show and are flying over from County Mayo to stage the workshops which are available for children and adults.

The St Patrick's Parade will take place on Sunday 15 March from 12 noon starting at the Irish World Heritage Centre and arriving in the City Centre around 1.30pm.

Events already sold out include The Riverdance 25th Anniversary shows at the Palace Theatre in Manchester with all four shows sold out during the St Patrick's weekend.

There are lots of events leading up to the festival in March including a visit by The Script in February and Nathan Carter along with post festival events including the very popular Manchester Mayo Association Annual Dinner Dance which has been moved to Saturday 21 March so that people can enjoy the 25th festival events and then finish off the festival celebrations at the very popular dinner at the Emirates stadium in Old Trafford. The association is one of the biggest Mayo associations around the globe and the event is always a sell out, so you would need to book your individual tickets or table in advance.

Noel Gallagher of Oasis fame brings his 'High Flying Birds' band to Manchester in March for a very intimate gig at the 2,000 capacity Apollo Theatre, the gig is expected to sell out as soon as the tickets go online, so keep your eyes pealed for the release date.
