Manchester band with Irish roots to promote Charity single at Levfest launch
Up and coming second generation Irish Band ‘Bright Kicks’ from South Manchester are to release their debut single ‘Show me the World’ on Monday 20th September, in conjunction with The Christie Cancer Hospital Charity. The band whose members come from Levenshulme and Didsbury have been selected to showcase the new charity single at this years 2010 Levenshulme Festival Press launch on Friday 22 October at M19 Bar on Stockport Road in Levenshulme Village. The Festival which runs from Friday 22 October to Sunday 7 November is one of Europe's biggest community festivals with over one hundred events staged over the two weeks of the festival (www.levenshulmefestival.co.uk).
All the money raised from the single will be donated to the South Manchester based Cancer Hospital as well as the proceeds from a pre-launch gig on Friday 3 September at Band on The Wall. The single has been officially chart registered and is already available on pre release via ‘Text a Track’. To download the single before its official release text Track 5817 to 80818 (making sure you leave a space in between Track and 5817).
The four piece band that all live in South Manchester consists of Darryn Clarke (guitar), David Whitworth (drums), Chris Allen (bass) and Bobby Magee on vocals.
Lead singer and former St Lawrence’s GAA player Bobby Magee whose parents come from Mayo and Tyrone explains the reasons behind the charity single "All the band have a great affinity to the work that the hospital does. I have worked at the hospital as a physiotherapist and we have had some family members who have been helped by the hospital. It is very special place and I have been lucky enough to work closely with the amazing staff and patients that walk through its doors. We wanted to do something to thank them for the great work they do and the support that they have given to our family and many other families across the north west, the single will be dedicated to The Christie and loved and lost ones in their memory"
“We appreciate that nearly everyone will know of someone be it a friend or family member that has been affected by cancer, that’s why we believe it is so important. This cause is very close to our hearts, so we will be working very hard to make this a success. Please support our cause and download the single and let’s raise as much money as possible for The Christie!”
