Irish Prime Minister joins United players in supporting Charity Event for Manchester Arena Attack

An Taoiseach (Irish Prime Minister) met Tony Hennigan in Ballina on Saturday 29 July to add his support for the special Charity event taking place in the town to support the victims of the recent Manchester Arena Terrorist Attack. The leader of the Irish Government has joined Manchester United Football club stars in lending their support to the special event. This was the new leaders first official visit to Mayo and he is pictured here with Tony Hennigan, Senator Michelle Mulherin and performers from the Centre Stage Vocal Academy.

Tony Hennigan from Mayo Manchester commented "We are delighted to get the support of an Taoiseach, Ballina Senator Michelle Mulherin had very kindly arranged the meeting and it means a great deal to get his support. The support for the event in Mayo and Manchester has been overwhelming. We found out yesterday that Manchester United's 'Voice of Old Trafford' - Alan Keegan had managed to enlist the support of the players from Manchester United Football club in signing an exclusive shirt. The shirt is from the teams recent USA tour will be raffled off at the concert."

The Mayo Manchester Charity Tradfest takes place on Saturday 5 August at the Ballina Arts Centre and is just one of the highlights of the 6 Day festival which features over 500 performers at over 100 events in Mayo. It is Ireland's biggest Tradfest and runs from Thursday 3 August to Wednesday 9 August.

Alan will flying straight from his tour of the USA with United, to Ballin to help launch this year’s 2017 Mayo Manchester Tradfest Charity Concert. Alan will also host a special concert at Westport Town Hall on Monday 7 August to celebrate the Towns 250th anniversary. He is pictured here with Paul Pogba and his United team mates in L.A.

This years 5th annual MMTradfest Concert will be a special Charity Concert to raise funds for the families of the 22 people killed in the recent terrorist bomb in Manchester, which also injured 250 people, many of whom were very young.

When asked about how he got the stars to sign the exclusive shirt he replied "As soon as they found out that we were raising funds for the WeLoveManchesterEnergencyFund they were queuing up to show their support. It's a very special piece of memorabilia for anyone to win at the concert. I was only too happy to help."

The annual concert at the Ballina Arts Centre looks set to be another sell-out show and people are advised to contact the box office at the Arts Centre online at or Tel 096 73 593

Performers from Mayo include: The award winning Centre Stage Vocal Academy, Irish dancers The Ganley Sisters, plus Sean Nos Dancer Tommy Stenson as seeen on RTE, Patrick Lacken from the Heroes for Hospice group and Dennis McCalmount.

Performers from Manchester include: Joe Keegan from the TV show The Voice, The Keegan Academy of Irish Dance who are trained by Lord of the Dance star, James Keegan and his sister Louise plus The Fianna Phadraig Pipe Band and Marian Waldron.
