Irish Candidate to stand in Levenshulme
Irish Candidate to stand in Levenshulme
James Hennigan whose Irish roots stem from Mayo has been selected as the Liberal Democrat candidate for Levenshulme in the local council elections on the 6 May. He is pictured here talking to fellow Mayo man Paul Cawley and his wife Margaret.
When asked about how they felt about his appointment as the candidate for Levenshulme they replied “It is great to have such a young, hardworking and enthusiastic candidate who wants to do his best for the area. He is a lovely lad, who has been involved with lots of things in the area for a number of years and deserves everyone’s support in the elections.
The Liberal Democrat focus campaigner is a business graduate who knows how to work hard, having spent the last three years working for the Irish owned Levenshulme Pub company. A keen supporter of everything Irish he has been an avid supporter of the Manchester Irish Festival for a number of years and was appointed two years ago as the co-ordinator for the internationally acclaimed annual Levenshulme Festival. The Festival which attracts thousands of visitors to the area promotes everything which is good about the area and is a two week celebration featuring over one hundred events. He currently works for John Leech the Liberal Democrat MP candidate for Withington who is standing for re-election on the 6 May in the General Election.
He said about his appointment as the candidate for Levenshulme “I am extremely proud about to be standing and want to try and do my best in continuing to support local businesses, promote environmental issues and keep the streets of Levenshulme safe and clean. If selected, like the rest of the Liberal Democrat Focus team, I intend to continue to work all year round for the community and not just around election time, like other parties. A councillor is for life not just for the Election! ”
