Here are this years recommended highlights of things to do on St Patrick’s Day at this years festival:
1. Start with celebrating your Patron Saint at the St Patrick’s Day mass at St Mary’s R.C. Church on Elbow Street in Levenshulme at 9.30am, or try one of the numerous churches in the city that are celebrating the feast day.
2. Tune into the Full Irish Radio Show on ALL FM 96.9 for a full update on whats haapening on the day
3. Pop in for a Full Irish breakfast at the Isis Café, 910 Stockport Road in Levenshulme, next to Hennigans Sports Bar. Breakfast starts at 8.30am
4. Head into town to start your day at Mulligans of Deansgate in the city centre just behind Kendals who are open from 9am for breakfast.
5. Catch the Cheltenham Races on the big screens at Fiddlers Green or one of the numerous Irish bars in Levenshulme, most of whom open from 11am.
6. Try and make a new UK record for the most Irish musicians playing in a Irish session in a pub, doors open 11am, session starts at 3pm in the Union Irish bar in Levenshulme with the award winning Grace Kelly and friends. Everyone welcome, admission free.
7. Take your family to the newly refurbished Chorlton Irish Club to enjoy a fun day of Irish music and games.
8. Enjoy a free gig at Hennigans Sports Bar with Irish singer songwriter Denise Johnson and friends, concert starts at 7pm.
9. Go to a night of free clubbing with the Young, Gifted & Gorgeous DJ’s David H, James H & the legendary Palace DJ Tom Dee at m19 bar in Levenshulme
10. Watch the reformation of the legendary Irish band ‘Driftwood’ for one night only in a free concert at the Farmers Arms in Burnage.
11. Catch the world famous ‘Indians’ when they appear at the award winning St Kent’s Irish Club in Fallowfield.
12. Enjoy a night of Comedy at the Frog and Bucket in the city centre.
13. Listen to top traditional Irish band Shake the Barley at the Red Lion in Withigton
14. Get your evening dress and dinner jacket on and go to the 75th anniversary St Patrick’s Society Dinner Dance
15. Enjoy a party for the over 50’s at the Irish World Heritage Centre in the afternoon
