'Beyond Shamrock: Music from a New Ireland'

This very special evening marks the UK debut of Ivernia, an orchestra featuring some of Ireland's most exciting young classical musicians, as part of Manchester Irish Festival.

Some of Ireland's finest young classical musicians come together, under the direction of Galway conductor Sinead Hayes, to celebrate Ireland's rich musical past, present and future in a thrilling orchestral concert featuring works by Elaine Agnew, Ailis Ni Riain, Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin and Ireland's greatest living symphonist John Kinsella. In an evening that brings together the worlds of classical and traditional Irish music, we will be joined by Manchester flute legend Michael McGoldrick who will be the soloist in Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin's Oileán/Island.

Programme:

Elaine Agnew: Strings A-stray

Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin: Oileáin/Island for traditional flute solo by Michael McGoldrick and strings

Ailis Ni Riain: Streetsong

John Kinsella: Symphony No. 9 (UK Mainland Premier)

Tickets for the concert are just £10 each
