Irish Poetry workshop: 6pm - 8pm

You don’t need to have any experience of writing poetry.

Just come along and have a go at writing your own poem inspired by Irish poets and poetry including our very own Jeremiah O’Brien.

Launch of “A Million Ways to Measure the Sun” by Steve Garside and open mic Irish Poetry: 8pm – 10pm

Guest Poet Steve Garside will be reading from his new collection of poetry.

Described by Pete Kalu, Artistic director of Commonword as “a marvellously dexterous poet, whose poems provoke in me reactions that range from the heart-stopping to glee. His kaleidoscopic eye and his rigour with form are exemplary”.

Steve has no Irish ancestory that he knows about, but one of his all time favourite poets and influences is Seamus Heaney.

Open mike poetry slot:
Bring a poem by any Irish poet from Keats to Yeats or a contemporary Irish writer.

You can read out one of your own poems or just come and listen to poetry. Musicians also very welcome.
