Irish Festival Parade 2008

The UK's largest St Patrick's Parade will take place on Sunday 9th March 2008 with over 70 floats, bands and walking groups celebrating the Patron Saint of Ireland.

The Parade will start at 11.45am from outside the Irish World Heritage Centre, Queens Rd and progress along Cheetham Hill Rd, Corporation Street and onto Cross St and around Albert Square before returning to the Irish World Heritage Centre by the same route

Any groups wishing to take part should attend the next meeting of the Council of Irish Associations on the 06/02/08 at the Irish Heritage Centre, Queens Rd, Cheetham Hill at 8.30pm to register and collect parade packs.

Mass will be celebrated in the Main Hall at 10.00am, in advance of the departure of the parade at 11.45am

‘James Cannon and The Sinners

‘James Cannon’ is the son of ‘Sean Cannon’ of the legendary Irish band ‘The Dubliners’. This is the bands last gig before they go off on a European tour and is a major coup for the festival. The band play a set of Rebel rousing Irish party ballads from the likes of the Pogues, Van Morrison and Johnny Cash alongside their own Celtic Rock and traditional numbers that is guranteed to get your feet moving.
