Manchester will celebrate the city's eleventh Irish Festival in March this year with an action packed sixteen days of Irish Music, Song, Dance and Culture. The annual event which is now established as one of the biggest Irish Festivals in Europe, is launched on Saturday 4th March and runs to Sunday 19th March 2006.

people of Manchester an opportunity to explore
and celebrate the unique culture of Ireland and of
those Irish who now call Manchester home.

Levenshulme village, which is home to the biggest Irish community outside of London will once again be turned green when it stages its annual ‘Irish Fleadh’ which will feature over forty events and over one hundred performers. All but three of these events are completely free of charge. Musical highlights of the Festival include the return of Irish Mancunian Shane Ward with The X factor show, a one off concert by The Fureys and the tenth anniversary of international Rock competition 'Boddingtons YGG Unsigned 2006' Theatre plays a major part in this years celebration with the much acclaimed 'I Keano' about Roy Keane, and the hilarious return of Ireland’s Favourite Comedian BRENDAN O’CARROLL in part two of the Mrs Brown Trilogy ‘Good Mourning Mrs Brown’. Another legendary Irish Comedian ‘Jimmy Cricket’ will be joining forces with ALL FM Radio’s Joe Casserly and The Full Irish Team in a special live broadcast to launch the Levenshulme Fleadh. The award winning Irish Music & Dance troupe 'Young, Gifted & Green' celebrate their own first decade of existence with an already sold out charity concert hosted by Alan Keegan from BBC GMR's 'The Parlour', programme. More Traditional Irish Music plays a major part in the festival. There are numerous free concerts taking place in Levenshulme featuring such renowned artists as Irish Pipes player ‘Becky Taylor’ and the award winning fiddle player ‘Emma Sweeney’.
