Manchester brewery 'Boddingtons' is sponsoring the search for the cream of the UK and Irelands Irish Rock talent 'YGG Unsigned 2004'

The event has grown into one of the UK's biggest battle of the bands competitions for bands with Irish roots and last year it attracted entries from as far away as Australia and Canada.

The aim of the event is to provide a showcase for unsigned acts with Irish roots and to give them a helping hand.

The 6 bands appearing in the final are:

Adept, El Quinell, Stonewood, Gecko, The Chase, The Hustle

Previous winners include metal band Dr Rinse who have since signed a deal with the 'Starsailors' management team. Video clips from their live appearance at last years YGG final are on their website www.drrinse.com

Over £1,200 worth of prizes are up for grabs sponsored by Alive, Boddingtons, the Levenshulme Pub Company, Redcat Recording Studios, Karen McBride Photography, Imagine FM Radio and 24rockfest.com.

The Prizes include £500 cash to be shared between 1st,2nd & 3rd, two days recording time offered by 'Red Cat Recording Studios' and a professional photo shoot by Rock photographer Karen McBride whose clients include 'Badly Drawn Boy'
