Ikiru a new Irish play written by Manchester Irish Heritage writer, Avril Heffernan. ‘Living, to live doomed’ inspired by emigration experiences will be performed by Garth Hulbert and Geoff Inwood. A supporting programme at this
event will include readings by Manchester Irish Heritage Writers.


The Manchester Martyrs
A coach tour of sites associated with the events in 1867 which resulted in the executions of Allen, Larkin and O’Brien.
Tour leader and commentary by Liam McLoughlin.

This walk will take in city centre sites
associated with the history of the Irish in Manchester over 2 centuries including
Chartism, Trade Unionism, Nationalism and Republicanism. It will last approximately 2 hours and will be led by Michel Herbert, who is editor of the North West Labour History Journal and author of The Wearing of the Green: a political history of the Irish in Manchester (2001)
